We regulate our scans using the ALARA guidelines and the length of our 3D/4D recording times are selected for reasons of safety and compliance with professional guidelines. We provide all inclusive no gimmicky 3D/4D scan, which will give you live-action images of your baby Smiling! Yawning! Hiccupping! Stretching! Rubbing its eyes on our highly professional equipment. Our highly experienced sonographers will ensure that you are able to ask questions and enjoy the unforgettable experience with your family.

Please note at EUMS 3D/4D is a speciality and the health and safety of both you and the baby will not be compromised under any circumstances.

Our 3D/4D package includes:
  • Fetal wellbeing report including measurements.

  • Sex of the baby if requested.

  • CD with all the images taken in your session (black and white & sepia colour) can be printed at any photoshop outlet and a duplicate cd can be done from a home pc.

  • DVD with a recording of the 4D moving images of the baby.

  • Personalised black & white thermal prints, two of which are mounted onto special photo cards.

  • All placed in a white gift bag.

Please Note: If baby isn’t in a suitable position to obtain the best images possible, we may ask you to take a short gentle walk in the local area so please allow extra time on your visit to Essex Ultrasound.

Cost - £70 Early pregnancy & dating scan 6 - 12 weeks gestation

Scan Purpose:

Early pregnancy scan is performed to confirm pregnancy using ultrasound, which includes the dating scan at this stage.
  • Confirmation of pregnancy after positive pregnancy test.

  • Assess location of pregnancy.

  • Determine single or multiple pregnancy.

  • Dating of the pregnancy (gestational age).

  • Unexplained bleeding or pain with a positive pregnancy test.

  • Severe nausea and vomiting.

  • Possible miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

  • Anxiety due to previous miscarriage.

This scan may include transvaginal/internal scanning

This scan includes:
  • Report with early pregnancy measurements.

  • Personalised black & white thermal prints, two of which are mounted onto special photo cards.

Scan Purpose:

This scan is carried out from 16 weeks onwards the accuracy of identification depends on the baby position.
  • Checking fetal wellbeing.

  • Identifying sex of baby using 2D ultrasound.

  • It is important that all parents understand that gender scanning is not 100% accurate.

Please note In the event of baby not being in the ideal position we may rescan you in a short period of time after a short walk.

Scan Purpose:
Fetal Growth or Well-Being scans are performed at any stage after 12 weeks of pregnancy. The scan is for women who are concerned about their pregnancy for any reason. A growing baby is a healthy baby so sometimes they are done in a sequence. During this scan we measure the baby's head, abdomen and limbs, and estimate the baby’s weight. This gives a guide to how big your baby will be at birth. Report including measurements.

Scan Purpose:

This scan is an examination of the baby’s anatomy to ensure its growth is within normal limits. Presence of structural abnormalities can be detected at this stage. Most expecting mothers find this scan very reassuring in mid pregnancy.
  • Fetal growth and well being.

  • Evaluating the anatomy of the baby in detail.

  • Detect any major abnormalities in fetal anatomy (head, face, chest, heart, spine, kidneys, bladder, stomach, diaphragm, limbs and placenta localisation) using ultrasound.

A presentation scan is usually performed from 35 weeks gestation onwards

In women with no previous history of preterm birth or other cervical investigations or interventions, cervical length measurements maybe carried out at 20 - 24 weeks

In women with a previous history of preterm birth or other cervical investigations, cervical length scans should be carried out every two weeks between 14 - 24 weeks gestation.

What features are assessed in cervical screening?

The woman empties her bladder and transvaginal ultrasound probe is introduced in the vagina to measure the cervical length. Each examination should be performed over a period of 2-3 minutes.

Length of the cervix (normally >25mm), Funnelling of the membranes into the cervical canal, Dilatation of the cervix
